What's that got to do with Jazz?
Long time local [Mid Coast Maine] humorist, Robert Skoglund (a.k.a. The Hhumble Farmer), has had a long running Jazz music radio show spiced with a bit of Down East humor on Maine Public Radio. Recently that Down East humor has often been replaced by long political screeds. Apparently even Public Radio has its limits on left wing ranting on an entertainment program:
“Billy Rhythm”: : “The humble Farmer Can Actually Stop Talking?!”:
It appears the humble (sic) Farmer has gotten himself into yet another flap. Apparently, after being warned a third time that his “Jazz” radio show was basically just a platform for his left leaning ways, he's decided he'll continue to produce the show, but he just won't talk.At Billy's site I commented,
Skoglund, who also speaks at events nationwide, promotes himself as the “Garrison Keillor of Maine.” Sadly, it sounds like he's taken on the worse aspects of that comparison.Wow. You know you've gone off the hook when public radio tells you to tone it down.
Interesting to see someone make good on the “Howard Stern threat” to do nothing but spin records if management meddles too much. ( It seems to be the radio personality's version of “Work to Rule” actions )
